California Education Through Animals Foundation (CETA) was established in 2007 as the non-profit arm of Veterinary Outreach    Based at Phoenix Ranch (est. 2004), we have developed a variety of programs to serve Yolo, Solano and Sacramento counties:

1. Teaching how to successfully incorporate animals into family life through sales and adoption of parrots, horses, laying hens and rescued pets.

2. Retraining or healing homeless animals for placement in "forever homes"

3. Teaching unique ways of interacting with animals that are rewarding, fun and empowering through ranch tours, "tag-alongs," pony rides and animal-handling lessons.  "Kids & Canines" is our newest project.

4. Providing healing and therapeutics using animal interactions to promote the well-being of children and adults.  This includes registration of therapy dogs and promoting their use with social services agencies as well as providing a wide variety of species and personalities for people to experience.

5. Working to establish a mobile low-cost spay/neuter service in the Yolo and Solano Counties to reduce the number of animals euthanized at local shelters. It will eventually be available to owners of rabbits & pot-bellied pigs  who have difficulty finding these services which are especially important in preventing cancer in these species.

The various projects are in different stages of development as Dr. Chan builds a volunteer base and support from local organizations.  Donations and income from the ranch and Veterinary Outreach allow us to continue providing these services.
