The foster family agrees to provide food, water, secure and comfortable housing, affectionate interactions and training to their foster animal.
The members agree to respect the animal’s needs and protect it from abuse or injury from other people or animals. The members will recognize that rescued animals often have emotional traumas or bad habits to overcome, which will require patience and consistent training from the foster family.
The members agree to protect each other, visitors, and the public from the animal they foster. There is always a risk that an animal may bite or scratch if frightened. Thus, it is the responsibility of the foster family to be vigilant for signs of agitation, learn how to handle their animals, and supervise all interactions between the animal and visitors or children who do not understand the animal.
Food will be provided by CETA if available, or can be considered a charitable donation if provided by the foster family.
The training for dogs will follow the guidelines for AKC’s Canine Good Citizen certification. The training for cats and other species will follow the guidelines for Delta Society’s Therapy animals. The foster family agrees to study humane training techniques on their own from CETA’s suggested reading list. CETA staff members will provide assistance on request at the main office or in the foster home. (call 707-678-0580)
Training equipment and crates can be borrowed from CETA with a deposit, which will be refunded within 30 days of return of the equipment in good shape.
The foster family will return the animal when they feel the training is complete and the animal is ready for a new home. They may also apply to adopt the animal through the adoption program.
The foster family will allow CETA representatives to visit the animal in their home at any time. If it is determined that the animal is not receiving adequate care, CETA reserves the right to take possession of the animal and equipment.
HOLD HARMLESSCETA FOUNDATION(AND ITS OFFICERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS) SHALL NOT BE LIABLE TO foster family ON ANY THEORY OF LEGAL LIABILITY INCLUDING THE SOLE OR CONCURRENT NEGLIGENCE OF /OR CETA FOUNDATION(AND ITS OFFICERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS), FOR ANY INJURY, DEATH OR DAMAGE DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY CAUSED BY THE ANIMAL. foster family DOES HEREBY RELEASE CETA FOUNDATION(AND ITS OFFICERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS) FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS, SUITS, DEMANDS, OR CAUSES OF ACTION WHICH MAY ARISE OUT OF OR BE BROUGHT AGAINST /OR CETA FOUNDATION(AND/OR ITS OFFICERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS) BY VIRTUE OF THE RELEASE OF THE ANIMAL TO foster family. IT IS THE EXPRESSED INTENTION OF foster family, CETA FOUNDATIONTHAT THE RELEASE PROVIDED FOR IN THIS PARAGRAPH IS DESIGNED AND INTENDED TO PROTECT CETA FOUNDATION(AND ITS OFFICERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS) FROM THE CONSEQUENCES OF ANY ATTACK, BEHAVIOR OR OTHER ACTION BY THE ANIMAL, AND FROM THE CONSEQUENCES OF ANY ACT OR OMISSION OR NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF RESCUER OR CETA FOUNDATION(AND ITS OFFICERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS) IN OBTAINING CUSTODY OF THE ANIMAL, IN PROVIDING CARE FOR THE ANIMAL, OR IN FAILING TO PROVIDE TIMELY OR ADEQUATE WARNING TO ANY PERSON CONCERNING THE ANIMAL.
INDEMNIFICATION
FOSTER FAMILY EXPRESSLY AGREES TO DEFEND, PAY, INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS CETA FOUNDATION (AND ITS OFFICERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS) FROM ALL SUITS, ACTIONS, LOSSES, DAMAGES, CLAIMS, OR LIABILITY OF ANY CHARACTER, TYPE OR DESCRIPTION, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITING THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING ALL EXPENSES OF LITIGATION, COURT COSTS, AND ATTORNEY'S FEES FOR INJURY OR DEATH TO ANY PERSON, OR INJURY TO ANY PROPERTY, RECEIVED OR SUSTAINED BY ANY PERSON OR PERSONS OR PROPERTY, ARISING OUT OF OR OCCASIONED BY, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, THE RELEASE OF THE ANIMAL TO FOSTER FAMILY. IT IS THE EXPRESSED INTENTION OF FOSTER FAMILY, CETA FOUNDATIONTHAT THE INDEMNITY PROVIDED FOR IN THIS PARAGRAPH IS DESIGNED AND INTENDED TO PROTECT CETA FOUNDATION(AND ITS OFFICERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS) FROM THE CONSEQUENCES OF ANY ATTACK, BEHAVIOR OR OTHER ACTION BY THE ANIMAL, AND FROM THE CONSEQUENCES OF ANY ACT OR OMISSION OR NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF RESCUER OR CETA FOUNDATIONIN OBTAINING CUSTODY OF THE ANIMAL, IN PROVIDING CARE FOR THE ANIMAL, OR IN FAILING TO PROVIDE TIMELY OR ADEQUATE WARNING TO ANY PERSON CONCERNING THE ANIMAL.
NO WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATIONS
FOSTER FAMILY UNDERSTANDS THAT CETA FOUNDATION WILL DISCLOSE ALL KNOWN FACTORS AS TO THE HEALTH, FITNESS, OR WELL-BEING OR DEMEANOR OF THE ANIMAL. HOWEVER, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT HOW AN ANIMAL WILL REACT TO DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND BEHAVE IN DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTS OR HAVE AN UNDERLYING MEDICAL CONDITION NOT APPARENT IN A BASIC PHYSICAL EXAM. BECAUSE OF THIS, FOSTER FAMILY UNDERSTANDS THAT CETA FOUNDATION (AND ITS OFFICERS, BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEMBERS) ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY IF THE ANIMAL SHOULD BITE, SCRATCH, INJURE, OR CAUSE THE DEATH OF ANY PERSON OR ANIMAL OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, OR FOR ILLNESS OR DEATH OF THE ANIMAL & VETERINARY BILLS ARISING AFTER BEING RELEASED INTO FOSTER FAMILY'S CUSTODY.

I represent that I am at least 18 years of age and I have read this entire contract and understand all of the representations and conditions incorporated herein. I fully understand that CETA Foundation Animal Rescue may repossess this animal at any time if terms of this contract are breached/violated or the animal is considered mistreated by CETA. As FOSTER FAMILY, I agree to accept full responsibility for the care of this animal releasing the previous owner as well as CETA Foundation and its representatives of any liability from this date forward.
